Case Study

Post-Renovation Window Cleaning in London

Project Overview

Following the renovation of an apartment building in Enfield, London, the windows were left covered with construction debris, delaying the marketing of vacant units.

The client required a fast, safe, and thorough post-renovation window-cleaning solution that would restore the window’s appearance while complying with the Working at Height Regulations 2005.

Dayco Cleaning’s commercial window cleaning team was instructed to carry out a thorough clean using water-fed pole systems and specialist residue-removal techniques.

Within two days, every window across the building was restored to a streak-free, crystal clear condition, enabling the renovation project to be completed on schedule and the building to be tenant-ready.

The Challenges of Post-Renovation Window Cleaning

  • Construction residue: Adhesive marks, paint splashes and protective film remnants required specialist removal methods.
  • High-level glazing: The building featured extensive glazing, including difficult-to-reach upper floors.
  • Renovation deadline: Dirty windows were the final barrier preventing project handover and marketing of vacant units.
  • Operational constraints: Cleaning was needed to avoid disrupting existing tenants during working hours.
  • Weather conditions: A hot day caused rapid evaporation and glare, making streak detection and residue removal more difficult.

Our Solution

Our team began with a full visual inspection of the building’s glazing to identify the level of contamination and determine the safest, most efficient cleaning method.

The (WFP) water-fed pole system was chosen because it allows safe cleaning of high-level windows from the ground while producing a clean, streak-free finish without chemicals.

The process:

  • Full-building pure water cleaning: Water-fed pole systems were used to remove general construction debris from all exterior glazing.
  • Targeted residue removal: Paint splatters and adhesive marks were treated with a specialised non-acidic adhesive remover formulated for architectural glass.
  • Controlled application: The remover was applied as a paste to minimise runoff, left to dwell, then gently agitated with a non-scratch pad.
  • Pure water rinse: Surfaces were thoroughly rinsed with distilled water to eliminate chemical traces and ensure a spotless finish.

Results of the Window Cleaning

  • A full post-renovation window cleaning, restoring 100% of glazing, including high-level areas.
  • Streak-free finish achieved using pure water filtration technology
  • Significantly improved the building’s external presentation, allowing the property to be marketed to prospective tenants
Zero disruption to existing occupants through careful scheduling of work
  • Zero safety incidents, with full compliance with COSHH and Working at Height regulations
  • Renovation completion enabled, allowing the development to reach practical completion on schedule
  • Our dedicated specialist cleaning team completed the entire clean within two days, ensuring the property was tenant-ready.

Client Feedback

The client was extremely satisfied with both the outcome and delivery of our post-renovation window cleaning. As a result, Dayco Cleaning was awarded a biannual window-cleaning contract for the building and began discussing extending our services to other properties within the client’s London portfolio, as well as being recommended to the building’s managing agent for future cleaning work.
